35 Whelen 200gr. BT Nosler ABs

I would have never really considered my 35 Whelen a long range deer/bear/elk gun but after my reloading and testing the Nosler Accubond BT 200 grainer in my Remington 35cal. 7600 carbine last week. I used LVR powder in the Rem35 and got really great groups at 200 yards.

I then today loaded my Remington 750 carbine 35 Whelen with the same slug but used IMR 8208 XBR powder to the max. 2800+ FPS.

Heavens to Betsy... This load was sighted in @ 100 yards @ 1" high and shot at 200 yards the the 2 slugs I fired were 2" high (@ 200 yards even). The MPBR is going to be wild.

Going at this rate this round could be a 500 yard gun easy. Bare in mind this was with an 18.5" auto carbine 35 cal. with 1.5" groups.

I have long been a fan of the Whelen, I have an AI version, was shooting 200 grain x's at around 2950, switched to 225 noslers, at around 2700, best group off a bench was .658 (100 yards) the gun is a rem 700 trigger/trued etc, 22" bbl, hs prescision stock 4.5 - 14 burris plex. I can easily hit at 500 and have been dying to try the Nosler ABs. Soon as I get my new toy(6.5/300 wsm) lined out I will have to buy a box and hit the press..

It would be nice if someone stepped up and improved the bullet selection and bc of the Whelen. It's a hammer.
