338 Rum velocity question

A friend is thinking of building a sporter wieght 338 rum with a 26 inch barrel. With h1000 & 300smk, what do u think he should expect for velocities?

Was hoping you would reply. In that barrel length do u think he woulg gain anything going with an edge?

Mine runs right at 2735 w/SMKs or VLDs.

And is a dream to load and shoot.

The sorry thing even has a tupperware stock.

I get between 2765 fps and 2800 fps with 91 grians Retumbo. Thats with a factory 26" tube. Its deffinatly on the hot end of the scale, but its where the gun wants to shoot. I highly doubt that you would gain anything by going to an edge... maybe with a 30" tube, but then still marginal.

Case capacity h20 is suppose to be about 6 gr. more than my Norma and I get 2725 w/ retubo 87.5 gr. fed 215, 300 berger. I have friends that push there Norma harder. I took mine higher but dont have my book now.

Oh and I wanted to qualify the velocity posted as I have great (or had until it got shot) my $99 class chrony.
