338 Required for Alaska?

Heard this a while ago, just wondering if its true for the big bears.

Yes. I use a 416wby not a 300. Big bears do NOT like to die easily as a rule. Use the largest cartridge you can shoot well. You may have to go into the bush after him remember. You want a stopper.

I agree with Brent I wouldn't use anything smaller than the .338 but it's my favorite caliber so mine would go with me.Do y'all want to get eaten by a bear?No?Leave the .270 at home and grab something with knock-down power. [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img] [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
