338-375 ruger??

I did a quick search and didnt find a thread about a 338-375 ruger so I thought what the heck I'll start one.

I have thought about this combo for a while and it might be kinda cool. It would fill the gap between 338wm and RUM. And could be put in a medium size action.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone done this?

Re: 338-375 ruger??

It would be a very good idea for someone that had a standard length receiver and wanted more power. For a magnum length receiver such as a Rem 700, it really does not offer anything as the standard RUM easily fits in the Rem 700.

It would be an easy wildcat to work with, no fireforming needed. Again, for a Ruger M77 or a standard length Win M70, it would offer alot of potential.

It would be very similiar to the 330 Dakota in performance, nearly identical.

Only thing left would be to neck it down to 30cal and 7mm.

Those would be some great wildcats. Maybe some Allen baby mags?

Re: 338-375 ruger??

I see on rugers website that they are offering a 416 ruger now. I'm guessing its a necked up 375 ruger. Great bear guide gun!

Does anyone have experiecne with the new 338 Ruger Compact Magnum? Is it closer to a necked up 300wsm or a necked down 375 ruger?

It is a shortened, and necked down .375 Ruger. Has a .532 rim and body.
