Re: .325 wsm??

I really don't have any intentions of shooting this rifle really long range. I am looking at max range around 600 yrds. Hopefully in the next couple months I will be purchasing the equipment to start reloading. Thanks for the all the feedback. The more I think about it the more I think the .325 may be what I am looking for.

Well..there you go. It will be a hammer out that far for sure. What brand have you been looking at? Keep us informed on how it goes.

Please do and I agree the Browning is the way to go. I would have said savage at one point in my life but to date percentage of shooters to duds browning and tikka are in the lead for me and tikka doesnt make a 325.

If you don't reload, the 338 win mag would be the way to go.

If you like the short action, there is a new cartrige that IMO is better than the 325. It is the 338 RCM
(Ruger compact Magnum) It is the WSM necked up to .338 and the ballistic equal of the 325 wsm
with a better bullet selection.(.338 compared to .323).

Just a thought.

The 338 RCM isn't the 300 WSM necked up... that'd be a 338 WSM.

Re: .325 wsm??

I am not sure what brand rifle yet. I do like my winchesters. I had a Browning A-bolt a few years back and it did not fit me well. The stock seemed short. Which is not a big deal since that can be changed. I'm going to start looking around this weekend. I am not sure if any of the stores around me are going to have a .325wsm in stock. May have to order one. I'll let you guys know what I decide on. Thanks again for the input.

Re: .325 wsm??

I have to wonder, why didn't you look into the .300wm as you can shoot a 200grn bullet with enough velocity to kill and elk at the ranges your looking at and be able to get ammo anywhere at a decent price when compared to the WSM ammo? I know nothing about the .325wsm and i'm sure it's a great cartridge, i'm just confused by the posts on this site, some talk about how good a .260 does on elk and others think you need nothing short of a .338, I often think people argue for what they own and shoot. I think you'll be happy with the caliber you shoot well, if that' the .325 or something else, good luck with your choice and if you can't decide buy all of them it's just money, lol.
