.308? in the match.

I have been looking through Brughton's shooting scores and chanpions and I seen two .308s that were in the compitions. are the competiors going to the .300 WSM? There were a few in .243s and a few other calibres.

Yeah a .308 is kinda outmatched, especially past 600.

The 300's can shove a heavier ( better BC) bullet than the '06 can...but if you arent planning on going for the title..????....Keep on shooting the 308 you have. Your slugs are more than adequate..they just wont get there as fast is all

Yep, with a whole lot more time for the wind to effect it.

You don't say what type of competition but I'd bet the 6/6.5/7mms are making a big showing. When not required, as in Palma and FTR, I don't think the 308 Win has much going for it.

Re: .308? in the match.

I called one of the guys I shoot with (X-ARMY RANGER) MAGs (his quote)are great and have there place, as for the .308, I have" I would never change for were we shoot, he asked if I still have my 1st 7MAG, I still do. just hold on to it a bit longer. If I used my .308 Reciever for a magnum you may run into problems. they will fit but you could have feeding problems. Stay with the 7MAG reciever for now and don't be in a hurry. So I orderd a Broughton heavy with 6 flutes.
This guy is a real shooter, he has no fear of shoting a Deer at 500 yards. And he never gave me any BS. so I am gonna hold the 7MAG for now.

Guys you are OK with me. The Barrel may take a long time to be built.
