300 RUM w/ 210 VLD's or 208 A-Max
I am new to reloading and I was set on using 210 VLD's. But just recently I've seen alot of positive feedback about the 208 A-Max since it supposedly has a slightly higher BC. Do you guys have any personal experience with one or both, and what kind of velocity and accuracy were you getting from short to long ranges?
Thank you for you help in advance!

Re: 300 RUM w/ 210 VLD's or 208 A-Max
I just recently started shooting a Remington Sendero .300 RUM. Thank You Santa! I found a fire forming load with the 210 Bergers that shot a 7/8" 300 yard group. Needless to say, I am very pleased. Broke rocks with ease out to 740 the other day. I haven't, and really don't intend to even try the A-Max. I do however have a few 200 gr. Nosler Accubonds on the way. I am seeing 3050 fps with the Bergers.

I have some 210's coming in on friday. Hope to get some good weather this next week as i have 7 days off of work. I will be sure to let you know what i have found. I have not heard any bad stuff about the 208's though.

fseybert,
That's some really good shooting. Thank you for your input. The velocity you're getting is great, too, 100 fps more than Berger said you'd get with that bullet. How do you have your load set up, if you don't mind me asking?
eyeballjr,
Good luck when you go shooting. Definitely let me know what you find out with the vld's.

It wouldn't matter if you wanted to run amaxs anyways, they are impossible to find. I use the vlds running 3160 with great accuracy with retumbo.

That's a sharp looking rifle you have there. Are you shooting 210's? How do you have your load set up if you don't mind me asking? Thanks

Re: 300 RUM w/ 210 VLD's or 208 A-Max
Yes, i am using 210vld's running .015" off of the lands, I use Remington Brass with a Rem 9-1/2M Primer over 94gr of Retumbo. My best group to date with this load was a 4-1/4" 3 shot group at 1025yards. This load is very near to the max for my rifle so i don't recommend duplicating it without backing out off about 5% and working back up.
