Re: 300 RUM or 7mm with 180 bergers at 3000 fps
My 7RM reamer is specially designed for the 180's. Its considerbly different than most guys reamers and especially factory chambers. I have built close to 70 of these with this reamer design and 26" barrels see right at 3000, 27" barrels will run in the 3020-40 range. The load is stout but not a max charge with this chambering. Norma brass is a little soft, so that is why Billy isn't quite seeing the full velocity. My personal 26" Rock barreled rifle runs 3020fps and has been verified out to 1500yds. The 7RM is a sleeper cartridge. With today's bullets and powders, its a completely different animal than it once was.

Re: 300 RUM or 7mm with 180 bergers at 3000 fps
Im not sure of the weight somewhere around 10.5 lbs I think, I'll try and weigh it sometime. In reference to velocity I got this up to 3026 with 72.5 gr of retumbo but was noticing some flat primers but bolt lift was just fine. I was getting my best ES at 71.5 gr and 2962 fps (according to my chrono). I am using the softer norma brass vs the win brass. The batch of win brass I originally got was so bad I went to norma. After this batch of 100 norma go I may look at the winbrass again, maybe I just got a horrible batch.

This rifle is just shooting every load I try very well. I've stopped using group size to try and pick a load and am just using ES. If I do my part it would shoot any load under .5 MOA. I shot another group at .337 CTC the first 2 shots went almost through the same hole, I honestly couldnt hardley tell it was but one hole.

I was skeptical at first as well but He assured me that I could accomplish these velocities. Travis hasn't dissapointed me at all. He was the perfect smith. I stopped by his shop 3 times or so and wasted hours of his time just talking. He let me handle some of his builds/personnal rifles and I spied him working on some customers builds, as I didnt want to disrupt him in the middle of his work just walking in and was waiting for him to hit a stopping point, and I have just been impressed with the whole expierence. I have gotten the velocities I was promised.

have owned both of these and still have the 300. my question is will the either barrells still have a throat left when you become proficent at the ranges you state you will be shooting.

Re: 300 RUM or 7mm with 180 bergers at 3000 fps
Dang this thread just keeps going. I pulled my Sendero 7 Rum out for a back up this year.. took two shots at the 200y Bull, 1/2 inch to right and 3/4 inch apart at 2960fps. Nice to know it was still on and consistent should I need it.
85.5G Retumbo, 215m primers 2x fired Nosler brass.
About the velocity question, It might be a brass issue, the bullet grip and case change a little bit every time it is fired from the brass getting harder.

Re: 300 RUM or 7mm with 180 bergers at 3000 fps
I have seen the 7SAUM with a 30" barrel and throated for the 180 bergers push the 180 grain bullet @ 3200 FPS with that kinda B.C. it's amazing, that would be my prefered set up for out to 1400 yards longer I am going to the 300 RUM with the 210's
