270 for hunting elk?

I've seen some good things with IMR 7828. No problem wacking and stacking on an elk with a 270, see it every year with sickening regularity. The 270 causes me to have to over exert my self on several occasions each fall

I would limit your range to 400 yards or less, 300 yards with a 130 grain bullet. Elk very in size an aweful lot. I don't think it's a good idea to shoot 900lb animals at 800 yards with a 270....

Jack O'Conner didn't write all those articles on the .270 because it wasnt a performer. Excellent cartridge.
It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not......
