.243 Load advice with Berger Bullets Please ???

Hiya Guys,

I am trying to get an accurate load together for some Berger bullets.

I want to be using the rifle at 100-600yds on vermin and closer on deer.

I shoot a Tikka T3 Super Varmint with a 1 in 10 barrel.

What powder and primers would you recommend ???

Do you have 1st hand experience with these bullets, if so would you care to share your experiences please ???

I have had some good experiences with H414 on different bullet heads, but I am struggling with the Bergers.

Please help if you can.

What weight Bergers in the 243 are you using? With the 1 in 10 twist you have the heavy weights are out. Are you using the hunting VLD's or the varmit bullets? For the hunting VLD's even the 95gr. need a 1 in9 twist. Where are you seating the bullet? I have had Bergers that shoot good with a 30 thou. jump to the lands and some have to be seated just touching the lands.

The really wanted to use the boat tailed Berger bullets because I believe they work better at the longer ranges and better against wind.

The lightest boat tailed they do at 90 grainers so I was hoping I would be able to use them.

If not I may have to go for 68, or 88 varmint bullets.

Please feel free to make suggestions of tried and tested loads in .243 rifles with a 1 in 10 twist.

the 95 grain may or may not work in a 10 twist. the 90 grainers should stabalize for sure. i shoot 88's out of my 12 twist and they do great in the wind. i use varget and I-4064.

my rifle has a 12 twist hart. it shoots everything good that i have tried thus far, some down to .25 at 100 yards. i won a 1000 yard match with the 88's in 2001, the first i ever shot in . i would try the 95 's if i had your tikka. h-4350 , varget and I -4064( in that order) and lapua brass. 210m and br-2 primers. you say in your thread for "deer" . does that mean 300 pounders from canada? the deer we have here vary, the mule deer can be 225; the whitetails barely make 100 on a huge trophy usually closer to 70-75 they are dinks. some on here have said their ruger 10 twist or savage or remington would stabilize the 105 max. yours may or may not. for sure it will stabilize a 95 baltip or sst or mk.

rem 700 factory ss thinking 91/4 twist. using berger 97 hunting grade 47 grains h-4831 sc 1/2 moa and under vel. 2950. This was the only powder i could get it to shoot.

Browning Xbolt varminter .243, 1:10 twist, 87gr Berger VLD hunting bthp, 46gr H4831sc, cci 200, 3166fps close to lands. 1/4" moa.
