Nice story Kirby, I've been thinking of building myself a fast twist 22-250AI. Anymore details on bullet performance, wound channel, bones encountered, with this little round?

Re: 2007 Exotic hunt on the Rockin Heart ranch.....

Coyboy,

These 100 gr ULD RBBTs were made for the highest BC possible so the meplate was closed very tight. The idea was an ultra long range 22 cal for pelt hunting.

As such, the bullet did not open up all that much. That said, there was a nice 2" diameter wound channel through the lungs.

WIth a slightly more open meplate, expansion would have been much more dramatic but I was happy with the results on this size of game for a 22 cal with a through the boiler room shot.

No heavy bone was encountered with the shot angle. With a solid shoulder impact, I am sure bullet upset would have been more but I would be suprised if the bullet would have stayed in the buck even with a solid shoulder hit. These bullets have a pretty high sectional density.
