200 gr Accobond out of a 300 wsm

Was looking to go to a new bullet in my tikka t3 lite 300 wsm. I'm currently using the barnes triple shock in 168 gr. I'm wanting to try the nosler accubond in 200 gr. with a BC of .588. Will this bullet work well with my barrel twist rate of 1:11 and 24 inches? I was think I will get about 2850 fps does this sound right? Thanks

Im having the same problem too with my 300wsm. run some numbers through a ballistic program. i am no reloading god or anything but from what i ran through the program you dont gain alot out of the 200grn accubond over the 180accubond. not much difference out to 700yrds. i am shooting the 180xp3 and now looking to reload the 180e-tip since you cant reload the xp3. anyways i hope someone can help you find a good bullet to choose.

Look at the drift numbers...there is where you should see the difference.

The 300wsm usually doesn't get the full advantage out of the 200s (a 300WM should get to 3000fps) but they give little up with the 180s.

Re: 200 gr Accobond out of a 300 wsm

Got this reply from nosler in case anybody was wondering
Question

I have a tikka t3 in 300 wsm, barrel length is 24 " twist is 1:11. Is this barrel twist rate addiquate to stabalize the 200 gr accubond. I believe I'll get around 2850 fps. Thank You.

Nosler Reply

We have not tested a 1-11" twist, but I believe it would be marginal under some atmospheric conditions.

So I guess probably not the best choice, would be great I imagine if you have a 1:10 or better 1:9

I was actually considering getting a 1:11twist in my 300WSM and shooting the 210's. The stability is there, it just won't be as good as a 1:10. My intended purpose is to maximize velocity by reducing pressures. You can shoot the 200's out of a 1:11. I was going to go with a 28 or 30" barrel for max velocity.

Re: 200 gr Accobond out of a 300 wsm

I have a Sako 11:1 twist and have shot 210 Bergers out of it just fine. Bergere lists required of twist 11 for theis bullet and it works. It is longer than 200 Accubond. The Accubond will work just fine in your Tikka. With RL17 i got 2935 fps with 210 Bergers. Shooting the 200 AB's, you might get over 2950, maybe close to 3000? Work up carefully.

Good shooting,

Mark
