Re: 1:9" twist for 7mm-08

I have a 9.5 twist Kreiger on a 7 mag. It does a fine job stabilizing 180 gr Berger VLD's. You should be very happy with that barrel.
I loaded both 150 gr Partitions and 140 gr Accubonds in my daughters 7-08. It has worked fine so far on 6 elk and 4 mulies from 20 to 250 yards.

Re: 1:9" twist for 7mm-08

Great post! I was just about to start a post on the same subject but found this one, I hope you don't mind me placing a question on your post.

I shoot a factory 7mag Sindero and it has a 1:9.25" rate of twist, I am looking to start reloading the Berger VLD and I'm concerned with the suggested twist on the difference between the 168 and 180 gr. would the 168gr be affected negatively in the 1:9.25" twist barrel for long range being that the suggested rate is 1:10"? Thanks.

Nope, 9.25 twist is perfect for 168's and 180's...Especially since recommended twist for both 168 and 180 is a 1:9 (according to Berger). My Sendero SF 7mmSTW has a 9.25 and it handles 180 Berger VLD's like a boss. It also handles the 168's and 160 Accubonds perfectly, too.

You're gun is setup to shoot any weight 7mm bullet with no issues...Even the heavies.
