I have two STW's that love THOSE bullets. One likes the 140's, and one likes the 150's. With those bullets, most of the time, the bullet ends up in the off side, and sometimes goes through. They give the most dramatic kills I have ever seen. I have seen the deer actually " bulk" at the shot from sudden shock, and usually DRT. Whether or not the bullet went through, or balled up in the off side, one common denominatior is the dropped dead right there, or in a FEW feet. And the ones that did move were dead on there feet and did not know it.that bullet in particular is like " deer lightening". If your gun, or any gun will shoot them you can ask for no more.

Good brass, and a great deal!!! Can't go wrong with that. Up until recently, I have been shooting Winchester brass that I purchased years ago. Well, I SADLY had to discard 60 pieces just a few days ago. Believe me when I tell you it made me sick to throw it away, but it had all been shot plenty. So, I broke out a box of once fired Remington brass, that was originally A- Square factory ammo. (some of there ammo used rem. Brass). I processed all the brass, and loaded it with my " standard" load, and to the range I went. It shot excellent. I liked the neck tension on the first loading, but will see how the next loading goes as for the same.
I still have plenty of win. Brass, and a few boxes of Federal as well. I have had good luck with remington brass for the most part. Welcome to the " Brotherhood".

Re: 7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Alright,

I'm almost out of the first load That I loaded to get my rifle on paper. It was a generic load that consisted of a 160g Sierra Gameking HPBT and 76g IMR7828. Loaded to fit into the magazine.

It shot just under an inch at 100yds. I have no plans on using Sierras any more, nor do I want to buy any more IMR7828 if I don't have to.....

Anyway, I'm now looking to try build another working load aside from the 180g Bergers that I'm working with. I have quite a few 162g Hornady A-max bullets. I also have H1000, Retumbo, US-869, & RL-22. If you have other powder choices, please indicate I'll listen to any ideas....

Thanks,

Dan

If you can get your hands on some 177 grain Cauterrucios, (I think that's about the spelling) Len on here used to shoot them out of his 7 Dakota at either 3050 or 3150 area and the 7Dakota is fairly close to the stw in case capacity. The gunsmith that built my stw loaded some and broke my gun in, he got 1 group with them of 1 1/4 I think at a little over 400 yards.

I'm going to buy some when I see them.

I have 168 bergers and 180 bergers and they shoot good too.

It seems like H-1000 is a mainstay for the stw from what I read.
