Anyway, I am considering getting rid of it and getting something with more available bullets. Does anything shoot similar to this but with more readily available cartridges? I am not really into reloading. Maybe the 7mm RUM?
Alabama', sorry to hear that you are considering getting rid of your STW, but in you situation, I can see it, well sort of. Actually, STW ammo is getting a little more available, Remington is now producing it, at least for the time being anyway. All that being said, if you don't reload, well then maybe another caliber such as the 300 win mag, or the Seven mag might be a better option. You might even work out a trade with someone on this forum.
As far as the 7 RUM, ammo for that one is near extinct at this point. It really didn't set the world on fire as was planned, and they even dropped the STW when they first marketed the RUM. ( Dumb move).
Anyway, at least you have some options, but again sorry to hear that you need to part with it! Somebody else will love it, I'm sure.

Does anyone know what I can get out of the STW? I bought it new about 12 years ago. It is a factory Remington 700 STW stainless with a composite stock and wood stock. It has a threaded barrel with a port and a custom trigger. It has a detachable clip too.
I have the exact same rifle.

It would probably fetch around 750.00. You can set your sights higher, but in all likelihood that's what it will sell for on the high end.

You don't sound like a guy who does a whole lot of shooting and with that being the case if I were you I'd just accurize what you have and buy a few boxes of the Nosler Trophy with the 160gr Accubonds and you'll be set for life.

If you do decide to sell it let me know and I might have a friend who would be interested.

I agree. There are some other 7mm's with more case capacity than the STW but the truth is, none of them offer a significant advantage in performance over the STW and they are all bad barrel eaters.

Add to that the extra muzzle blast, flash, and recoil and I simply can't justify owning any of them.

To my way of thinking the 7mm STW is the ultimate 7mm, the rest are just wannabe's and custom guys trying to make a buck on the desire some people have to own something now one else has, or few people have. You can only push a given diameter and weight of bullet so fast before the law of diminishing returns bites you in the ass and the STW is pretty well "it" for the .284.

WildRose, I couldn't have said that better myself, or maybe I HAVE said that before!! It truly is about as much as a 7 mm can handle, and to be honest, it don't need no more. It's been tried, and failed, and this cartridge still lives on, imagine that!
It's got a permanent home in my gun cabinet!

I'll second that ......The STW is the most efficient 7mm cartridge there is...... not only does it figure that wat mathmaticly it proves itself in the field and at the range

anyone have a good load with 150 TTSX in the STW. I have only shot 180 vld's but just wanted a lighter bullet for close range hogs.

After all these years of being on here, I just found this place.....

Feels good to be in the brotherhood. Remington 700 Sendero SF 7mmSTW, Zeiss 6.5-20x50, shooting handloads.
