I apologize to the op if I've taken over this thread but hope these questions have applied to the subject. I just have one more for Jeff or whoever. What do you feel your gaining with the 56mm vs. the 50mm objective on the NXS?

Shortpants, The more discussion we have about Elr scopes the better. I suspect a 8-32 nxs 56mm with more moa clicks would be popular. My 5.5-22 is 50mm but based on other scopes I have that are 56 mm the image is brighter. Depends on whether you ll be shooting early mornings or late afternoons. That would be my 2c.

Then along came the new MOAR reticle to not only solve that problem but includes a floating crosshair! For me this reticle is the best I've found but still not quite perfect. That is until I emailed NightForce to ask them why I can't have all those features in a FFP scope? They told me to watch there website because that exact scope is in the works right now!!! Sounds like heaven to me! For you stuck on the NP-R1 I have to ask why you prefer it over the MOAR? They both have 20MOA below the crosshair. I've never shot past 1000yds so what am I missing?
I thought the MOAR was going to be the ticket but they made the reticle heavier than the NP-R1, not to the extent that you get with a FFP scope on top power but still too heavy compared to the NP-R1 for 1000+ shots, for my liking anyway.

Shortpants There is no bad coice between the 50 or 56. If you need the room in a case or scabbard go 50. For most all shots the light difference will not be detectable. But for that one shot right before shooting hous close when the big bull comes out, I go with the 56 for anything it can offer me.

Sounds like pretty sound ideas to me guys thanks for the education. I hope the people at NightForce hear our voices on what would be the "perfect" scope. They did tell me the reticle would be the MOAR or something similar. Hopefully that means there working to improve on it.

Re: Scopes for 2000+

You can try the Vortex Razor. I've shot it out to 2500 yards. There is a small hole in the center ot the crosshair so you can see a target(white or colored bull) out to 3000, depending on the size of the bull. If the bull is under .1 mil in size you can center it(10 inches at 1000 meters, 20 inch at 2000 meters, and 30 inches at 3000 meters give or take a few inches, with the scope at full power) I find it very helpful for shooting way out there.
