Re: 300 RUM, 230gr bergers, 1400 yards

I am working it up as well. 89.5 Retumbo doing 3050. Only had it at 100 so far but they all stacked. Blew up a groundhog at 300 for kicks. Going to be stretching it out over the next few weeks.....I'll get back.

On your load did you find this was max? Are you shooting factory barrel length or custom barrel/build...Thanks....for the info.

Re: 300 RUM, 230gr bergers, 1400 yards

The barrel is 27". The rifle is a custom built on a Rem action McMillan stock 1lb worked Rem trigger. I may be able to push this load a bit more but it shot the 3050 with no signs on an 80+ day. Extremely accurate ......My go to load for this gun is 208 A-Max 91.5 Retumbo at 3150. 1/4 min gun all day with this combo. The 208's are 1/2 the price of the Bergers. I got a killer buy on 500 of the 230's from a private seller and am really liking what I see so far. I am going to try them out in a 300 Lapua I have here with a 34" Lilja on it. 210 JLK's shoot lights out in this one...I think the 230's should launch at 3200ish...

Just got my 300 RUM put together. Will be taking it for a test drive next weekend (hopefully). Don't have any 230 bergers but have 210's as well as 208 A-max. Still loading an assortment to try and get it dialed in.

I will be tickled to death with a 1000 yard group 4 times larger than yours from one of my loads. Will be shooting both the RUM and the 7mag to 1500 if the wind permits.

Re: 300 RUM, 230gr bergers, 1400 yards

So I was able to get out today and try some refined loads. I have a load that printed .697 for 3 shots at 200yrds minus the one I pulled. With the pulled load its 4 shots at 1.7 inchs. I also was able to use someone's magneto speed chronograph well I think that's what they are called; for the last two loads. They were 2972 and 2960. Also the one that was pulled was the first one that I shot with the chrono attached with my brake off. I'll say I have really gotten used to shooting this thing with the brake. Its like night and day. So that first shot with out the brake was a little surprise along with the red mark on my face. The next shot I held really tight on the rifle and printed the 4th shot right back in the group. I think I could of probably put all 4 in the same group if I would have left the brake on. But this will give me some ideal of what velocity I'm at with the 230 bergers. So the load is.....
300rum
89.4 grains retumbo
3.093 OAL measured with the hornady gauge.
215 federal match primers
230grn berger OTM's
2966 (2 shots avg) on the mag speed
26inch rem sender

Will try and post the target after I figure out how too

So here is the result of the load at 200yrds.
