I was able to design and have a rifle built (full custom 300 RUM CMT) that easily pushes the 230 Berger Target at 3250fps with no pressure. It prints well inside .5 MOA. When compared to a .338 cal 300 grain Sierra at 2850fps, I walk all over it even past 1500 yards. Several hundred fps more speed and a couple hundred more ft/lbs energy past 1500 yards. Now with the .338 300 grain OTM (2850fps) I'm neck and neck on energy but surpass it by about 150fps on speed again all the way to 1500 yards. I was really looking hard at impact velocity and getting the bullet to open better at really long distance. Now if you step up to a faster .338 then that's a whole new ball game.
How long a barrel are you running? 30'' longer? Only ask for that seems a little fast, I'm hoping to get that with my 300AX running a 27'' barrel.

Boy that does seem awfully fast for a RUM, I have a 28" Rock Creek 300RUM barrel on order, that is being throated for the 230gr Hybrids and was hoping to get 3050 to 3100 at most. Of course down here in south Texas at elevations between sea level and 1100 I can't get the speeds you boys get up there in the mountains.

Long barrel (32" broughton 5C), custom designed throating and RL33 is where I get my speed from. These factors came together and exceeded my expectations. Pressure signs (or lack thereof) on the case are as mild as a factory load too.

The load:
Berger 230 Hybrid Targets
Remington Brass full length sized and neck turned
Fed 215 GM primers
101.5 grains RL33
COAL is roughly 3.840" to fit in Wyatt's mag box which gives 100% density

Load is more accurate than anything I've ever shot, two shot pairs to gather drop data could all be covered with a baseball at 720, 1000 and 1369 yards.

Don't start with this powder charge, it could by way over pressure in other RUM's!
