It's very common for neither of those to be the company you buy the rifle from.
This is very true, but as long as it shoots strait, I ain't ask'n.

Quality components matter and there are lots of manufacturers who (usually) make good components. The thing that separates good AR's from poor ones is whether the compay which assembles them goes to the additional step of thoroughly testing the rifle for both function and accuracy and works out any defects. SOME well known companies don't even test fire the ARs they sell. Top quality companies make some bad rifles too but they don't let them get shipped to customers.

Again I must concede that you are correct. a prime example is the difference between Rock River Arms and White Oak Armory. They both use wilson match barrels and with the exception of the RRA trigger, they use the same lower parts kit. The difference is that WOA doesn't volume assemble rifles. I'm not knocking RRA. Mine is an honest Half minute shooter with good ammo. Heck it will even sling the cheap walmart stuff right at the MOA mark. Its just that WOA takes more time and attention with each build and is less likely to let a lemon out the door. In Rock River Arms defense they do guarantee their rifles to shoot 3/4 moa and I have never met a shooter who hated his RRA rifle.

Re: what make is your AR?

I got a M4 built by my best friend when he came back from Iraq after the surge. He was a 45bravo and he built the rifle using parts from various manufacturers. Granted the rifle has a lot of sentimental value but I have yet see a more expensive AR15 outperform it. Sometimes its not the parts but the person building it that really sets a rifle apart.
