Which SPR scope for yotes and SHTF?

I have my spr all built (18"), totally done except the scope. I have been looking between the Vortex Viper PST in 2.5-10 and 4-16 in MOA with the second focal plane. the 2.5-10 has no parallax and the 4-16 does. I think 4x on the bottom is a little too high for a fighting rifle but thats just my opinion so far. All I want this for is for a SHTF gun and yotes. I would like to shoot to 600yds and hold MOA to that distance. I know the 4-16 is better at 600 but that will be the exeption not the rule.

Also if there is some other scope that I am missing here that I should look at then let me know. I dont want to really spend over $1k for a scope and I dont want to go down as far as a 1-4 so let me know any other suggestions. I think if the 2.5-10 had a parallax I would just buy that.

Let me know what you think.

Not a lot comes to mind for me in that price range, the optic you mentioned in the 2.5x10, leupold mr/t or patrol series (probably the best choice), swfa ss maybe, or a horus blackbird. If you could find a used NF 2.5x10 for that I would choose that. FYI 4x is the standard for fighting rifles.

I'm in the same deliema. I picked up a DPMS 308B. I'm partial to a 42mm obj. Really dont want to spend the money on a S&B, and i want a Mil Dot Ret. I need to take some time and do a little research when i get out of this daze i've been in about it.

I have been VERY happy with my IOR, 1.5 - 8. easy two eye open optic on 1.5 and the 8x is more than enough for coyotes, heck I have used mine on PD's out to 400 yards (not ideal) IOR uses SCHOTT glass and IMO is one of the clearest scopes I have ever looked through. Price is a little more than you may want to spend at $1395 @ SWFA. Good luck in your search

A 2.5-10x40 Viper PST would work really well. 10x is plenty enough magnification to shoot coyotes from a lot further away than most people have any business trying. If things get a little to personal 2.5 on the bottom end will still give you good field of view. to top it all off you get an illuminated reticle for critters in low light.

Re: Which SPR scope for yotes and SHTF?

Check out the Vortex Viper PST 2-5-10x32 ffp scope. It has parallax adjustment and many other features for $800.00. It looks like they are starting to ship from some vendors now. This is what I am looking at for my RRA LAR-8. I would really like to have the Night force 2.5-10x32 mil-dot, but I am struggling with the $1692.00 price tag. I have never owned a Nightforce, and don't know if it is worth over double the cost of the Vortex. Plus, I have the 6-24x50 ffp mrad on my 300 win mag and I really like it.
