magazine as monopod?
I've seen it said by a few guys that they use their magazine as a rest/monopod. It seems like Recoil would create issues with accuracy/torquing the gun etc.
Is this the case?

I've heard it too. I think I tried it. My thought would be to use the grassy ground or something with a bit of give. Kinda like a last option.

Re: magazine as monopod?
I tried once, it seemed to be just fine (the yote didn't know the difference). The bullet should be long gone by the time the rifle rocks back. The thing I didn't like about it was the dirt and grass that got shoved into the bottom of the mag. I only took one shot, but I think the gun still fed fine, it was a few years ago and I honestly wasn't paying that much attention.

Re: magazine as monopod?
I think anything that helps steady the shot should be used.
I have used this method in a pinch, I try to avoid it. I believe that it's hard on the magazine, and can develop feeding issues caused by damage to the magazine lips, and the latch notch on the magazine. Magazines aren't so cheap or available right now.

Re: magazine as monopod?
I shoot mine like this all the time. No issues here.

Re: magazine as monopod?
Back in the day when magazines were not as well made it was generally considered bad to touch the magazine in any way, as it could induce a malfunction. With today magazines there is no issue, I do this all the time it steady!

Haven't I seen you over on the LWRC forum? Sorry, your name looks really familiar... Either way, it's good to see you on here, too.
