Re: COL for AR15 using a Mic?

I had to come back to this thread and thank you for your help Kevin. I read the article in the Sierra manual and I think I am on to why I was having so much trouble (thanks to you).

I normally neck size (you corrected that for me here) and try to push the shoulder back a couple of thousandths for my bolt gun. I have had a Wilson Case Gauge for a long time but I have gotten lazy about using it (them). I used the case gauge to set up a Redding S die to resize some AR15 brass this evening and I was surprised to find out that I needed to push the shoulder back .004" to make the case gauge happy. I'm pretty sure that's going to fix my problem.

The neck tension issues that I used to solve with crimping were solved with the S die. I'm going to load up 50 rounds with 64 gr. VLD's (heaviest .223 bullet I have right now) and H335 and see what happens. I also picked up a couple of mags from Brownell's. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. I'm priming with CCI 400's. Do you have a preference on primers?

Thanks again.
