AR-10 in the works!

This one will run a Satern barrel, set up to run Berger 185s. Still waiting on the Gieselle trigger and the Armalite float tube to start putting things together. Steve needs to do a little milling on the upper to allow the rear sights to bottom out completely. This needs to be done so we can set the sights to get a full 1,000 zero out of the irons. Beyond that, she's rolling now. Keep you guys posted as we get closer, but I doubt that I'll get to do much with this before next year's HP season kicks off.

I've been looking for requirments on the front sight.

What requirements are you looking for? NRA regs for Service Rifle legal, or the actual specs to get to 1,000?

This one will use a gas block fron base with a Picitinny top, matched to a detachable sight tower. I have to follow the M110 specs in this one to keep it Service Rifle legal for the matches, so I really don't have any major options here.

Reason I was asking Kevin. When I shot on the Navy team at Perry. We use to rotate the front sight down to make up on what we could not get from the rear sight. It was like fileing down the front sight on my old M-1a so your rear sight wasn't sticking up so high.

I've talked with Steve (Satern) about this, and I know he's got something in the works for these guns. Part of it had to do with milling a hole in the upper receiver where the rear sight center post could nestle further down, and buy us a bit more elevation. He'd talked about milling new front sight bases as well, and altering the height enough to get us to 1,000, while still having some wiggle room for adjustment. The upper hasn't gone up to him yet, but I'll probably send it up to him after I get back from Raton the week after next. Don't know for sure what's in the works, but I'll be happy to keep you posted.

At this point, I'm just glads these things are coming together and starting to look like rifles, as opposed to just a box of parts!

I under stand the box of parts thing Kevin!!! I built the wife a M-4 from the parts I had laying around in the shop. I took her to the range today with it and she was like a kid in the candy store with it. Here is the pic of an AR-10 clone I just finished. Built from a Mega Arms MATEN reciever set.
