SPONSOR PROFILE - Big K Ranch Long-Distance Rifle Ranges & Classes-David Coy
http://www.big-k.com/long-range-shooting/
Please give me an overview of what your company does and where you are located.
The long distance rifle facility at the Big-K Guest Ranch in western Oregon provides what we think is the finest long range shooting instruction in the country. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but offering service of exactly that caliber was the foundation of our mission when we began discussions to develop it. I’m certain most attendees will think we’ve succeeded.
How long have you been in business, how did you get started, and who are some of the key members of your operation?
We have just recently opened. We got started when we recognized that the Big-K, with its gorgeous, expansive terrain and existing amenities for lodging, food and general outdoor recreation was a perfect match for a long range marksmanship school. Our goal was to find a shooting team and approach that would complement the existing facility. That meant teaming with the most knowledgeable and effective trainers we could find. We chose the Thunder Beast Training Group because they live to shoot and regularly prove that fact at major shooting challenges nationwide. Not only do they shoot, but they administer some of the most prestigious long range steel competitions. We looked at a lot of trainers before we made that choice.
Can you describe and give me a brief history of some of your hot products or services?
The goal was to create a training facility for those who want to develop uncompromising and truly effective long range practical shooting skills. The curriculum is comparatively demanding and our trainers are all business when it comes to teaching. The range is divided into a massive known distance (KD) range with steel targets out to 1000 yards, a field course with 60 steel targets at ranges from 200 to 800 yards, as well as 100, 200 and 300 yard zero ranges and benches with both paper and steel targetry.

What are some of your company's future goals?
Coming soon, we’ll offer scheduled daily range use for hunters, military or tactical rifle marksmen and operators or others wishing to polish their long range skills at this remarkable facility. Other discussions have touched on creating a shooting park at the ranch that will encompass, skeet, trap, tactical rifle, shotgun and pistol training, safety and women’s classes among other things. Paired with the existing amenities, this would be a real one-of-a-kind private facility in the country, perhaps the world.
What is your opinion of the future of the long-range hunting and shooting industry?
We think long range practical field shooting is becoming a larger and larger segment of the shooting sports. The fact that there is so much web content on it, so many long range rifle builders and such a rapidly growing body of knowledge around it supports that idea.
Tell me about your (or some of your team's) long range shooting experience.
You can visit Instructor Profiles | The Big K Guest Ranch - Elkton Oregon to get complete career profiles of our long range training team. I think you’ll find these to be very impressive resumes.
