Will it make a big difference if those weights were to be removed and a string dampner put on? I can have one made up but the question remains the weights. I'm not going to take shots further than 50 meters and I'm shooting small game mostly. Any advice please.

The string weights are there to add speed.

I don't know how much they add.

I don't know if you can remove them without wrecking your string.

You had very bad luck to receive 2 strings that have the problem.

My advice would be to get a new string and move on.
