I want a 3pack of his DragonSlayers lol., am in South Australia and I was just informed by local authorities they will confiscate X-Bows on sight :(

Its spos to be Legal., seems like they are taking the liberty of misconstruing the Laws

But hell keen to take me son on a Trek-About Aus while its still legal and would appreciate having locals show me the ropes around their backyards

Re: New Tac15 Owner

Below is a quote I snatched off another site where someone had four crossbows taken after a warrant was executed for search and siezure of prohibited weapons because he posted pics on Facebook to share., its not a quote by me though just didnt know how else to highlight it

You are correct, in saying that the xbows are now classified in SA as 'dangerous articles' (Sec 15 SOA) and therefore to possess them, you need to have a 'lawful excuse'.

Now according to this judge, that excuse can only be granted by the Law, (must be written in some Act of Law) and Sec 15 SOA, does not have that provision, in it. (to possess dangerous articles)

So, at this stage, you can possess prohibited articles, as some such semi auto rifles etc. possession can be authorized by a collectors license, but a dangerous article, such as xbows, now also bayonets amongst other things can not.

So this judge, in his blissful ignorance, turned a large number of law abiding citizens, in SA into criminals.
This cant be happening man :(

The PRS is the go, but getting one out of the states will be hard, the new ITAR legislation makes it a PITA for most US stores to sell $100.00 worth of parts to overseas customers. eBay......

Re: New Tac15 Owner

Well there goes my big beaming smile! Firearms department just informed me that as of 6-7 weeks ago Xbows are flatout illegal/banned/outlawed and there was no 2 ways about it. No ifs no buts., no period of amnesty to properly dispose of them. Hard earned cash turned to dust

Well., for all those asking my bow is somewhere at the bottom of the Murray River! Given no amnesty what other alternative was there?

Bye., nice meeting the few who even bothered to welcome me

Guess its time to fashion me a spear and boomerang and see if they want to challenge my right to hunt with those

Well I rang Alice Springs Police and asked what the go was and the officer was very lax about the whole thing., if anything he seemed annoyed I would be ringing to ask a stupid question. But being from Alice Springs I know how quickly the NT can adopt SA regulations., I'd guess legislators aren't going to follow SA until SA sorts out the legal conundrums it has created for itself.
