Re: Mossberg 500 rifled barrel slug test

I have the mossberg 500 in 20ga. it's not my goto gun, I got it cause of the good deal I got on it and to have for family and friends to use, for the money the 500 is a good blue collar shotgun and accurate, I use Remington AccuTips 3" in mine.

The Hornady SST 2-3/4" I have used in 20ga with my H&R Ultra Deluxe both shots where at 80 yds both neck shots. One was a spike here in NJ, the other was a 130" 10 pt from Illinois

Re: Mossberg 500 rifled barrel slug test

I have hunted Ohio off and on since 1987 and I have been using the Remington Accu-tips with the 385gr and it has been working well for me the last few years in a Moss 500.....Actually very impressed with the accuracy and knockdown power out to about 185-200 yards..I killed a doe about 150 with it and hits in the front should right where I aimed, and I got a nice 8pt with it out about 120 in the neck this year..Both dropped in their tracks.....

OH went to straight walled cartridges this year and it went well, so, I'm hopin they will open up all rifles in the near future so we can get better range that has cost me some bigger bucks that I have seen but went against taking and 250- 700 yard shot like I have many times in WV.

Isn't that the truth wish I could use a rifle here in lower Michigan. I guess to many dumb people shooting and not knowing the bullet may go past the intended target.

Yes sir, many states treat the hunters like children in many ways in the name of the poachers or stupid people....Ohio does it with the Rifles and West Virginia does it with the Crossbows...You can't hunt with a Crossbow in the WV unless you have a permission slip from the Dr, and then sends it to the state for their permission for folks with disabilities to use one.....Incredible...I have heard so many people here suggest that crossbows are just ""HIGH POWERED" Rifled bows....Figure that one out.....LOL

Other than it's not even in the same ballpark as they claim. My question back to them has always been...Why do you care if I hunt with a Xbow if isn't affecting your hunt with a "HIGH POWERED" Compound bow?...What's funny is when the compounds came out the "tradionalist" recurve hunter were saying the same thing lol ..The most I get is it isn't "fair" or "it will hurt the deer herd population"......lol....Man, where do these guys come up with this stuff.....None of that is even coming close to being true....That's like saying we need to stop using rifles because it isn't fair to the folks who can only afford to use a slug gun.....Incredible....
