4th doe of the season down

I understand the need to thin them out being from Alabama. The deer season there starts mid november (rifle season) and lasts till feb. and the limit is one a day, sometimes 2. I wish i had one of those backstraps for thanksgiving dinner. AJ

The issue here is the herd is not getting thined out at all. Lots of private land and the DMAPS are suppossed to be so land owners will let other people on there land to hunt, but it dosent work that way at all. I own 4 acres but I cant realy hunt on it, its mostly road frontage. My neighbor ownes 350 and lets 14 guys hunt it, but its very well managed (took me 3 years to get invited and I'm on doe patrol only). In comparision the land accrossed the street is 2000 acres and 3 guys hunt it and the lot to my left is 400 and one guy hunts it. The land onwners will not let anyone else in there one group pays the other guys is just a dick, and thats just my area Silverback will echo this in his experience. A friend of ours own a farm here in town lots and lots of land he gets to hunt one small corner behind the barn. The rest goes to guys who have the money to pay for the land. Its a hot topic as some of the bucks in our are can go over 200 inches and its a very rich area we live in and we are both just avarage guys.

I also have nusence tags from alot of the local farmers that I can use from march to august. My father inlaw gets 25 of these and you can hunt them with what ever you like until 11pm with a spot light.

Most of them are donated to a program for the neede here in NY. In the county I live there is some where in the area of 115 deer per square mile

Across the road is good too.....the hill is a backstop....but the longest shot is what 500 meters from the grain bins to the big oak tree...I bet dave Miez would let us accress from your house and Thw rich guy will let us nuciance where I missed on 96....

I shot 4 deer in 2008 and 2009.
Then our son moved out.
Now we can only eat 2 animals per year:(
I miss that boy.

Sorry to here that but we all have to grow up some time I suppose. I sure as heck did not eat all 4. We have a big party and at least one gets eaten then. The meat we dont eat goes to friends or is donated. A lot of people wont take it though which is just silly.
