Spotting Scope Lens Case
Compliments of Buffalobob (Jim Collier)

If you have several lenses for your spotting scope then you will need some lens cases to protect them. The small plastic containers for some of the powdered drink mixes are exactly the right size. Simply keep the original bubble wrap pouch the lens came in and drop the wrapped lens into the tube and put the lid on.

If you have tall and short lenses then you can get the large and small tubes. If the tube is too tall you have two options. Put a piece of foam in the bottom of the tube to occupy space or cut off some of the tube and then take a hot piece of metal and form a new lip on the tube so the lid will snap over the lip.

These tubes are relatively light and you can just put them right in your back pack and they will protect your lenses from most knocks and scraps. While they are not waterproof, they will keep your lenses dry in any reasonable weather that you would be using a spotting scope in. If you are a Clumsy Carp and tend to fall off cliffs and get buried under rocks slides, they probably aren’t tough enough to prevent that kind of foolishness from damaging the lenses; however, you will probably have more serious concerns at that point in time than a few scratches on some lenses.
